Events in San Marino

San Marino is not just a place to visit: it's a place to experience. Throughout the year Mount Titano comes alive with costumed festivals, ancient ceremonies and events that attract visitors from all over Europe. Here are the ones we think are worth the trip.

Medieval Days (late July)

For a few days the old town travels back in time: costumed parades, crossbowmen, flag-wavers, musicians, craft markets and taverns serving medieval-inspired dishes. A magical experience, for children too.

Feast of Saint Marinus and the Republic (3 September)

San Marino's national day, dedicated to its founding saint. The highlight is the Crossbow Palio in the Cava dei Balestrieri, where marksmen compete with ancient crossbows amid drums and flags.

Investiture of the Captains Regent (1 April and 1 October)

Twice a year San Marino celebrates the investiture of its two Heads of State with a ceremony unique in the world: a solemn procession, historic uniforms and Guards in full dress through the streets of the City.

Christmas of Wonders (December – early January)

Lights, markets, shows and a fairy-tale atmosphere turn the old town into a big Christmas village. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family weekend.

And all year round
